BAKING SODA EASTER EGGS { EASTER ORNAMENTS }
Baking Soda Easter Eggs ~ I’ve been wanting to make salt dough ornaments for a while now and when I looked at the recipes I was kind of disappointed with how long they take to make. Ok, they aren’t long to make, but require many hours in the oven. When you have kids who are excited to make something, waiting 3 hours plus cooling time.. is just too long.

I was really excited when I came across a Baking Soda Dough recipe from UrbanBlissLife!! I actually featured her recipe back in December at From Dream To Reality. She had created gorgeous Christmas ornaments, along with a couple of Star Wars ornaments! Very cool! The baking soda dough recipe is great! It requires 1/2 cup cornstarch, 1 cup baking soda, 3/4 cup water and only takes about 1 hour in the oven at 175 degrees F.
HOW TO DECORATE BAKING SODA EASTER EGGS
Supplies:
– Baking soda ornaments (recipe)
– Acrylic paint
– Glitter paint
– Patterning tape
– Dot stickers
– Paint brush
– Bakers twine
– Dot tool
– File (If the ornaments have jagged edges, use the file to smooth the edges.)
I used the dot stickers to create perfect circles. I applied them onto the eggs and painted over them. Once the paint was dry, I removed the stickers. I used the dot tool to create little dots on the eggs.

Here’s the step by step tutorial for a stripe egg.

Step 1: Apply patterning tape onto the baking soda ornament.
Step 2: Apply acrylic paints onto the baking soda egg.
Step 3: Once the ornament is dry, you can apply glitter paint. (OR apply glitter directly onto wet paint)
Step 4: Remove patterning tape.
Step 5: Tie a piece of Bakers twine onto the ornament.
